The Dreaded… Sin and Crossbones Please note that this article was originally written in 2023 From The Dread Dormammu to the Dreaded Baron Zemo, there’s no character in Marvel Crisis Protocol which can be taken lightly. Sometimes you just need to understand why it is someone might be worried about seeing that particular thing across the table from them. Today let’s look at The Dreaded… Sin! (And also Crossbones) A first for this series! Today I’m going to look at not one but two characters! Sin, the daughter of the malevolent Red Skull, and Crossbones, one of Hydra’s more notable goons and an extremely capable mercenary in his own right – who happens to be Sin’s main squeeze!   Sin and Crossbones have been around for a long time – in fact, Crossbones was one of the first characters released in the game, being in the core set and remaining unchanged to this day. They share affiliations in Cabal, Criminal Syndicate and Hydra, and there’s a lot more interesting things ...

The Dreaded… Masters of Evil Please note that this article was originally written in 2022 From The Dread Dormammu to the Dreaded Baron Zemo, there’s no character in Marvel Crisis Protocol which can be taken lightly. Sometimes you just need to understand why it is someone might be worried about seeing that particular thing across the table from them. Today let’s look at The Dreaded… Masters of Evil! After a long time away dealing with one real world crisis after another, I’ve finally been able to get some games back in and I want to try something a little different here by talking about a leadership ability and affiliation I feel has fallen out of favour a fair amount in the modern meta – the one belonging to one of the very first characters in the game, Red Skull’s Master of Evil: I don’t want to talk about Red Skull himself because, honestly, there’s little I could talk about here that wasn’t covered fantastically by Lexa’s article: The Jank Emporium #1 – Out of Affilia...

The Dreaded... MODOK

The Dreaded… MODOK From The Dread Dormammu to the Dreaded Red Skull, there’s no character in Marvel Crisis Protocol which can be taken lightly. Sometimes you just need to understand why it is someone might be worried about seeing that particular thing across the table from them. Today let’s look at The Dreaded… Machine Organism Designed Only for Killing! MODOK was one of the first characters released outside the core set, and for a long time he was an absolute terror – able to gain and then spend power better than any other character in the game, he has dropped off somewhat in popularity since he was retuned in the card pack update, but he’s still one of the most dangerous characters in the game and well worth his 5 threat! There’s an awful lot of text on MODOK’s card and a lot of it synergises together to become more than the sum of its parts, so let’s break down the core components that make MODOK so potent. Firstly there’s the Psionic Blast. A 6 die attack at range 4 w...

The Dreaded... Loki

The Dreaded…   Loki: God of Mischief Please note that this article was originally written in 2022 Whether it is The Dread Dormammu or The Dreaded Stark, there’s no character in the Marvel Crisis Protocol Universe which fails to send a shiver down the spine of their enemies… at least some of the time. Today let’s look at The Dreaded… Loki, God of Mischief! Loki was one of the earlier characters released for Marvel: Crisis Protocol, and his popularity has remained steady. He remains one of the more technical pieces in the game, and one who can fit in many teams. As I prepare for Season 7 of the Tabletop Simulator League (the first one that I’ll be participating in!) he’s reclaimed his place as one of my absolute favourite 4 threat characters in the game. Since that is quite a bold statement, I thought it would be worth breaking down what it is that makes Loki such a consistent team player. Before looking at his superpowers, Loki is average as a character – maybe even...

The Dreaded... Mister Sinister

The Dreaded…   Mister Sinister! Please Note: This article was originally written in early 2022. Whether it is The Dread Dormammu or The Dreaded Stark, there’s no character in the Marvel Crisis Protocol Universe which fails to send a shiver down the spine of their enemies… at least some of the time. Today let’s look at The Dreaded… Mister Sinister! Welcome to the first in a series of articles I am putting together to draw attention to some of the characters and their unique interplay within Marvel Crisis Protocol. With over 100 characters either in the game or revealed and spoiled, all of which can play under the 24 (!!) leaderships currently available, there’s a truly vast number of different combinations which can provide huge variety in the play experiences on the table. In this series I want to try and draw attention to some characters or playstyles which I think tend to fall a little under the radar. Let’s begin with the one who inspired this whole series for m...
